Daniel Doherty was born at Lawrence General Hospital and grew up in nearby North Andover. He graduated from Connecticut College in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in History and American Studies and earned a Master of Science (MSc) in History from the University of Edinburgh in 2016. He has taught numerous history courses over the years—including AP World History and AP U.S. History—and is currently ALA’s only AP Seminar teacher. Mr. Doherty enjoys spending time with family, running, playing music, and teaching and studying history. To that end, he is currently pursuing his PhD in History remotely and part-time through Durham University in the UK. His project explores anti-abolitionist mob violence and rioting in northern states during the post-Jacksonian period (1840-1849).
